..Labor Day 2 0 0 9
On any mac since ≠ 1 9 8 4 there is really only one standard Apple® way to fix permissions
It is done by using Disk Utility from a valid system floppy , C D , or D V D disk inserted into a drive and used as the start up disk by holding the " Option " key down upon startup ( when you hear the chime )
DO NOT REINSTALL the original system software
^^ Just use the drop downs thoughtfully provided by Apple® from the menu bar above ^^
One must be able to un-mount the offending hard drive disk in order to repair it first , that's why one must startup from a completely different disk drive
To this date in time , all computer system software ( with the notable exception of Adobe® Air® ) is contained on D V D's , Cd's or 3.5" disks
And that's why one starts up from a different disk , hopefully the original system disk included with the computer
One may and can startup from a hard drive attached to the machine via Universal Serial Bus , a Fire wire® , even from Network via AIrport®
Many do this to re-install their last back up from the Apple® application called Time Machine ®
No machine is bombprooƒ and if fying is so safe, why do they can it the terminal ?
i think they ought to make all airplanes out of that stuff they make the little ' black box ' from , don't you ?
