Just wanted to ask, if anybody knows how to get the volume/sound to turn on again...I dont know what I did, but I can not hear anything from this MacBook...

Sat, March 22, 2008 - 8:18 AMDid you press F4? Press it to see what pops up on the display. Should be a gray icon about 1 1/2 inches square in the lower center of the screen.

but it seems you are talking about the Audio Volume....
I think you must have pressed the "mute " button on your keyboard.

..i end up hitting the ' num lock ' key once or twice to see if the little greenlight comes on
No caps lock light, either

It is not the mute button and Ive tried the system preferences and I cant find the darn button that is for my problem...
Its on a lock and I cant find out how to unlock it..
When I press the speaker button on the top right corner, it shows this O/ symbol (the line is through the O), it doesnt matter if I press the load, low or mute, it still doesnt change a thing.. And when I turn the computer on, it makes that one sound, so I know my speakers are ok, but I can not watch any videos or use Skype right now...
Its getting frustrating.......
Thank you all for your help, but does anyone have anymore suggestions now?

..that sux • umm, here;
1) try plugging in headphones and see of they work..fiddle with the volume up & down
a) if they do you may be in luck..because i think cyberguys.com has a cheap headset microphone USB combination that you can purchase and get back to Skype® any way
.Macbook right ?
2) . .try squishing to the volume - mute buttons down once or twice fairly firmly ..they may be stuck ...do they come backup ?.or if you feel brave enough to pry them off..there may be something stuck under them that is shorting things out..thus rendering volume inoperable. keys getting stuck is somewhat common..esp. if you had ever spilled anything on the keyboard.. my keyboard and case are bent..the keys pop off all the time....
uh, i am also thinking it's a little wire near and through the hinges that has broken or come disconnected to the mic..
3) in System Preferences - Sound - Input : turn the mic all the way down so it isn't audio feedback that's the culprit
